History

The temple of Sri Ganesh adjacent to Secunderabad Station is one of the oldest and most important temples of Lord Ganesh in southern India. It is especially famous for its beautiful temple architecture and grandeur. It is believed that the Ganesh idol was discovered by soldiers in the Madras Regiment while they were digging a well. The idol of Ganesh was found in a well in 1824 and was installed by his holiness Adi Shankaracharya of Kanchi Peetam. This temple is now acclaimed as one of the major temples in the twin towns of Hyderabad and Secunderabad, as well as in Telangana state, captivating devotees with their rare spiritual environment.
