History

Sri Uttara Guruvayurappan temple is located in Ram Nagar, Nanganallur, Chennai. This temple came to be called ‘Uttara Guruvayurappan Temple’ since it is north of the original temple in Kerala and have the main deity Sri Guruvayurappan.The temple is based on Kerala architecture and the kumbabishekam was conducted on April 17, 1975. The namaskara mandapam have the idol of saint ‘Bilwamangal’ in the front. This is a pious place to visit and offer the prayers to Lord Guruvayurappan. The pooja and rituals are followed in Kerala style. Devotees are allowed only after removing shirt and baniyan. Prasadam is distributed every day. The temple is being managed by a private trust Gurvayoorappam Aasthika Samajam. The temple belongs to late 20th century. The Trust also runs a Ayurvedha Vaidyasala.
The temple will be kept opened between 05.00 hsr to 11.00 hrs and 17.00 hrs to 21.00 hrs.
