History

Sri Bhramaramba Malleswara Swamy Temple is a famous ancient temple located in Pedakakani village near Guntur. Goddess Bhramaramba Devi is the presiding Deity in this temple. Goddess Bhramaramba is one of the Astadasa Sakthi and Sri Malleswara Swamy is one of the Jyothirlingam of Srisaila Kshetram. The Temple is just 26 km away from Vijayawada city. Sri Malleswara Swamy Temple was first installed by Sri Adi Shankaracharyaand was later renovated by Sri Krishnadevaraya. The Temple is famous among the devotees for Rahu Ketu pujas.

Rahu Ketu Pooja :

Pedakakani temple is very famous for Rahu Ketu pooja. The puja is performed every day during rahukalam period. A well on the east of the temple called as ‘Yagnala Bavi’ has a belief that Sri Bharadwaja brought water from all Holy rivers and stored them in the well. Till present day, people believe that a glass of water from this holy well cures them from all diseases and keeps them hale and healthy. Another belief is that the God here is “Korina korekalu theerche Devudu – Kakani Devudu”. It is also true that King Sri Krishna Devaraya got a son after praying to Sri Malleswara. Thus, people believe that the God blesses them with ‘Santhanam’ or children. Many marriages are made in this temple with utmost devotion and faith.
